My Story

Dr. Nathaniel R. De La Cruz was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. He completed his Bachelor's of Science in Pre-Medical Biology and minors in Chemistry and Leadership Studies from the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) in Edinburg, TX in 2011. He completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX in 2015 and continued his Family Medicine Residency training there as well. During his final year he served as Chief Resident for the 2017-2018 academic year and graduated from the UTMB Family Medicine Residency Program in 2018. Dr. De La Cruz returned home to the Rio Grande Valley and worked in Mission, TX for a couple years to provide medical care to the RGV community. He did traveling clinic work during 2020-2022 in San Antonio, Houston, and Round Rock in addition to helping with COVID vaccine clinical trials in San Antonio in 2021. He enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, kayaking, and archery in his free time. He is eager to resume working in McAllen doing Direct Primary Care and offering other private pay medical services for residents of the Rio Grande Valley. Dr. De La Cruz enjoys teaching future medical professionals and is Volunteer Faculty for the UTRGV School of Medicine- Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. He is open to accepting Medical students, Nurse Practitioner Students, and Physician Assistant students.
